Every week, Epic Games makes a few games available for free that you would normally have to pay for. Most of the time the line-up consists of semi-popular indie titles, but sometimes there are also AAA games on the list – so what has Epic Games prepared for us this time? Here are all free games for the week of April 20, as well as a sneak peek on what’s coming next.
Typically, there are two ways of getting access to an AAA game: Either you just purchase it directly for a (usually) high price, or you subscribe to a video game library service like the Xbox Game Pass. What both ways have in common is that you won’t be able to avoid paying for playing.
Luckily, Epic Games offers us a third option from time to time that doesn’t cost you a single cent. In fact, Epic makes certain games available for free for a limited time every week – and sometimes there are really great titles on the line-up. So, let’s take a look at which game you can grab for free right now and what games we’re gonna get next time!
The following two games are available for free in the Epic Games Store until April 20, 2023. They will then be replaced by other titles becoming available for free, which we also introduce to you here.
Epic’s Free Games Of The Week (April 20-27): Beyond Blue & Never Alone
“Beyond Blue” is a narrative-driven exploration game developed by E-Line Media, in collaboration with BBC Studios and OceanX. The game takes place in the near future and allows players to explore the ocean depths as Mirai, a marine biologist, and her team.
The game features a rich and detailed underwater world, where players can interact with different marine creatures, collect data, and learn about marine life. The story focuses on Mirai’s journey to uncover the secrets of the ocean and the challenges faced by marine conservationists in protecting the environment.

Never Alone is a puzzle-platformer video game developed by Upper One Games in collaboration with the Iñupiat, an Alaska Native people. The game is based on the traditional Iñupiaq story “Kunuuksaayuka,” which follows a young girl named Nuna and her Arctic fox as they travel through various Alaskan environments to find the source of an eternal blizzard.
The game incorporates traditional Iñupiaq folklore and art, as well as elements of puzzle-solving and platforming gameplay.
Epic Games Store Down? How To Fix Connection Problems
The following games will replace Beyond Blue and Never Alone as weekly freebies.
Epic’s Free Games Of The Week (April 27-May 4)
Again, Epic is offering us not only one, but two free games to grab for a limited time.
Epic Freebie #1: Breathedge
Breathedge is an ironic outer space survival adventure game. Take on the role of a simple guy called the Man who is just carrying his grandpa’s ashes to a galactic funeral and suddenly finds himself in the middle of a universal conspiracy.
The game is a space survival sim with deep survival systems and a good bit of humor. It’s been compared to titles like “Subnautica”, but with a Sci-Fi scenario and deliberately humorous writing.
Epic Freebie #2: Poker Club
Poker Club is pretty self-explanatory: it’s a Poker game. This one sets out to be the “most immersive poker simulation ever made” though, and you can definitely see it aiming for that with high-res character models and elaborate presentation.
Outside of just playing rounds of Poker, you can make your way through a global Poker Tour, working your way up from backdoor joints to the biggest arenas in the world. You can create your own character as well. If you’re looking to test your mettle against other players, you can participate in online tournaments with upto 200 players.
