Forza Motorsport: Best starter car

With over 500 cars at launch, there are plenty of wheels to take racing in Forza Motorsport. But which is the best starter car?

Whether it’s a hot hatchback, a piece of American muscle, or an iconic racer, you only get one starter car in Forza Motorsport. We’ll help you choose the best one.

Forza Motorsport starter cars

When you first enter the Builders Cup Career Mode in Forza Motorsport, you’re given the choice of three cars to choose from. This will be the car you’ll learn the ropes in, the first car you’ll upgrade, and the first car you’ll compete in throughout the Builders Intro Cup.

This will be the car that you’ll always look back on fondly as you progress throughout the game. No matter how many incredible racing cars you’ll unlock during your time in Forza Motorsport, this will always be your first, and therefore the choice for which to pick is crucial.

The three cars to choose from are the 2018 Honda Civic Type R, 2019 Subaru STI S209, and 2018 Ford Mustang GT. Each car has its pros and cons and of course its own fan base, so which is best when it comes to starting out in Forza Motorsport?

Best starter car in Forza Motorsport

With three cars to choose from, it’s important to weigh up the pros and cons for each. One has more power, whilst another has better handling, and one is perfect for drifting on every corner.

If you’re looking for pure power, we recommend going for the Ford Mustang GT. Nothing beats the growl of American muscle, but getting this thing stopped for the slow corners is a task in itself.

You’ll also be struggling through every apex, before fighting for traction on corner exit. American muscle sounds fun on paper, but when competing for podiums it’s a lot more work than it’s worth.

If you’re after a hot hatchback to throw around corners, the Honda Civic Type R is perfect for you. With superior traction, substantial braking, and a low centre-of-gravity, the Civic is ideal for late braking and sending it up the inside.

It’s a similar story with the Subaru STI S209. Subaru is notorious for being the car of choice for street racing, as seen in the Fast and Furious series, but don’t write off the STI S209 as a track racer.

The Subaru is also best for some sideways action. Locking up the rear wheels to get a drift going whilst pulling off that legendary overtake will never feel better than behind the wheel of a Subaru.

Ultimately the choice for best starter car falls to either the Honda or the Subaru. Overall, the Honda Civic Type R is the best Forza Motorsport starter car for its all-around performance.

If you’re starting out for the first time, you want something fast, nimble, but ultimately easy to handle. The Honda is all that and so much more, whilst the Subaru is the perfect second choice if you want more of a challenge.
